Deep-Secure Ltd, based in Worcestershire, has won this year’s UKCeB Excellence Awards …

Deep-Secure Ltd, based in Worcestershire, has won this year’s UKCeB Excellence Awards for their work on the Signed and Encrypted Email over the Internet (SEEOTI) project.

The SEEOTI project is an initiative sponsored by the Chief Information Officer of the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD CIO) and the UKCeB. The project was instigated following the recognition of shared issues of limited capabilities that enable organisations to work efficiently and effectively across Team Defence – folding in both the MOD and their private sector contractors. The project targets the most basic and prevalent form of information exchange in business – emails. By adopting an integrated approach around enhanced security components, the solution exposed the benefits of delivering secure email facilities to users, namely – greater protection from Cyber threat, reducing the risk of data loss, limiting the impact of identity theft and generally improving user awareness of the need to protect sensitive information.

The objective of the UK CeB Excellence Awards is to recognise, celebrate and share examples of successful collaboration within Team Defence across four categories, including Secure Information Sharing, Business Improvement and Transformation, Human Factors Integration and Through Life Support. The judges reviewed each of 6 strong submissions on a number of key points and are looking for an innovative approach, impact of work, ease of implementation, degree of collaboration involved and potential for application in other areas.

Speaking after the award ceremony, Sales and Marketing Director, Robin King said

“ This offers great recognition of the hard work we have done to help MOD and Team Defence bring together requirements and capability to offer a solution to such a pervasive issue. By enabling a view as to the benefits that this capability offers, MOD and their supporting organisations can start to consider implementation that will address the concerns that that UK Cyber Strategy has exposed – namely the need to securely share information to protect Government, Industry and Academia. We are already seeing this common requirement across many sectors beyond defence, which in terms of the requirements of the award to meet wider potential for application is a great outcome.”

Previous Winners has included the LSC Group, Microsoft UK, the DII group and ATLAS.
